The 23rd edition of Cairo ICT 2019, the leading technology fair & forum For the Middle East & Africa, will kick off on December 1, with a significant African presence including 25 ministers across the continent, and dozens of executives and leaders of regional institutions operating in the continent.
The event, sponsored by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, will be attended by Transportation Minister, General Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir and Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Dr. Amr Talaat, who invited 25 African ministers.
The four-day Forum will also host Lacina Koné, Executive Director of Smart Africa, the grand African alliance of African leaders and governments.
Dr. Hamadoun Touré, the former ITU Secretary-General and Founder of Smart Africa, will participate at Cairo ICT 2019. Moreover, Dr. Amani Abou-Zeid, Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy at the African Union Commission (AUC) will also participate at the event.
A large number of CEOs from private companies operating in the ICT sector in Africa will participate in the exhibition, as well as visitors and experts from across the continent are expected to attend in order to exchange experiences, make alliances and partnerships.
Cairo ICT coincides with Egypt’s presidency of the African Union and supports Egypt’s mission to revive the continent’s economy and boost trade between its countries.
Throughout the previous years, Cairo ICT has played a vital role in attracting technology investments to Africa. This is besides the several sessions, seminars, and workshops that were held to discuss the challenges faced by Africa & ways to enhance the use of ICT to drive economic and social development in the continent.
During Cairo ICT 2018, H.E. Abdel Fattah El Sisi launched several initiatives including the Africa initiative for games and digital applications, which has been implemented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) in cooperation with the concerned state authorities to encourage the establishment of 100 start-ups in the field.
In the same year, the Dot- Gov MEA was launched for the first time and was attended by many African countries such as Ethiopia, Uganda, Zambia, Côte d’Ivoire, Tanzania, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, and Kenya.
Over the years, Cairo ICT became a leading platform that include many incorporated events, covering many sectors in the aspect of technology; transportation, financial inclusion, security and safety, smart cities and innovation.
Cairo ICT 2019 will host the 6th Payment, Fintech and Digital Inclusion fair and Forum (PAFIX), the 2nd Government transformation fair & forum “dot-gov MEA”, the 5th Security and Safety Technology Fair & Forum (DSS), and the 5th Intelligent and Connected Cities Fair & Forum for the Middle East and Africa “Intelli-Cities”. Moreover, it will include the 4th Innovation Arena, and the 2nd Smart Transport Fair and Forum for the Middle East and Africa “Trans MEA 2019”.
